The Community Support Advisory Council (CSAC) is an Illinois Department of Corrections Faith Based Re-entry Program whose role is primarily to build support within the community for the formerly incarcerated returning home.

CSAC works by bringing together supporters and providers in the community to provide an array of services to support citizens returning from incarceration in their re-entry transition.

The Council and its staff engages this work inside the Illinois Department of Corrections by meeting with the inmate and their family.  Services then continue in the form of outreach as the returning citizen is released into the community.

The Council also develops best practices for prisoner re-entry and makes policy recommendations to the Illinois Department of Corrections. Through the work of the Council, community safety is increased and recidivism rates are reduced.

The CSAC works in partnership with Parole, TASC, Safer Foundation, Westcare, CiviGenics, Placement Resource Unit, Sheridan and Southwestern Correctional Centers, along with other diverse community entities.

CSAC Meets Monthly - 1st Tuesday, 1pm - 3pm

Representatives from community-based and faith-based service providers, churches, and businesses who serve or would like to serve the formerly incarcerated and their families are welcome to attend.
